How Learn To Learn Started

J.P.GuilfordIn 1940, a noted psychologist, J.P. Guilford, identified more than 100 different intelligences, or core cognitive abilities, that affect learning.  During WWII, the Army Air Force sought Guilford’s help in developing an assessment test for new pilot recruits.

Using his research to identify the specific “intelligences” or cognitive abilities needed to pilot an airplane in combat; he developed an assessment test that resulted in a 29% decrease in pilot accidents and washouts during training.  Guilford was credited with a critical breakthrough that helped the Allies win the war.

Dr. James Fadigan, trained in both psychology and neuroscience and a national authority on learning, is a strong proponent of Guilford’s “multiple intelligences.” 14 years ago, Dr. Fadigan recognized the failure of the American education system to Negative Child Readingaddress the needs of students who didn’t fit the “normal student” profile – students who were inattentive, created behavior distractions, could not learn at a prescribed pace, tested low on standardized IQ and achievement tests, and seemed unmotivated or disinterested.

These children were “labeled” and received marginalized education because schools are neither equipped nor knowledgeable to help these special children.

Dr. Fadigan and his team, building on Guilford’s “multiple intelligences” research, identified the 14 core intelligences most critical to learning in the modern world.  The Learn To Learn Program assesses, develops and integrates those critical core intelligences.

Over the last 11 years, Learn To Learn has conducted scientific validation studies to confirm the Program’s effectiveness.  More than 17,000 children and adults nationwide – from the most learning-challenged to the most gifted – were studied at public, private and charter schools, government agencies, and corporations.  The consistent conclusion…this unique brain development program works!
